Committees in Action
AIA Mid-Missouri has four main action committees. Each of them has a main link on the menu above. The committees are:
Membership: This committee coordinates leadership succession planning; manages the bi-annual design awards process and reception; publicizes election information and organizes revisions to by-laws or Mission/Goals as required; with the Secretary, it maintains accurate membership records and provides regular membership service updates; and monitors on-going active committee participation.
Community: This committee fosters AIA Mid-Missouri connections to local communities through public alliances with other professions, industries, and businesses; develops civic opportunities that enhance perceptions of AIA's value to our communities and their residents; coordinates continual freshening of chapter webpage; and identifies opportunities for AIA Mid-Missouri to give back to the community through an organized, long-term volunteer relationship.
Knowledge: This committee identifies and promotes a large selection of annual continuing education classes; manages the AIA Mid-Missouri scholarship program; and fosters strong ties with Mid-Missouri schools, colleges, and universities to promote awareness of the profession.
Committee on the Environment (COTE): The national AIA Committee on the Environment's definition of sustainability and sustainable design is: Sustainability envisions the enduring prosperity of all living things. Sustainable design seeks to create communities, buildings, and products that contribute to this vision. COTE works to advance, disseminate, and advocate - to the profession, the building industry, the academy, and the public - design practices that integrate built and natural systems and enhance both the design quality and environmental performance of the built environment.
AIA Mid-Missouri's COTE Committee works at the local level to implement the goals of COTE. This committee is open to anyone, architects and others, interested in sustainability and sustainable design.
---If you are interested in working with any of these committees, please contact the committee chair. They will be happy to hear from you!
