This is the first prototype for a stand-alone drive-up interactive teller machine (ITM) canopy for Riverways Federal Credit Union.  The challenge for this project was figuring out how the credit union could enter new markets without investing in a traditional building.  To accomplish this goal, we relied on three strategies:  new technology, a novel structure, and eye-catching graphics.

Implementing new technology was key in breaking away from the conventional brick and mortar financial branch concept.  Enter the interactive teller machine (ITM) that connects customers to a live teller with a video screen.  With this new technology, nearly any financial transaction traditionally completed in a branch is now possible from a drive-through lane.  Additionally, we employed networked lighting and signage controls so the entire operation can be managed remotely.

With new technologies in place, our next strategy was to develop an innovative approach to an otherwise everyday structure — a drive-through canopy.  Typically drive-through canopies are strictly utilitarian structures with no desire to draw attention to themselves.  This new structure reinterprets the Riverways' logo as a series of curved, tapered glue-laminated arches as the supporting elements for the canopy.

Lastly, the challenge of making an impact with a very small foot-print was resolved with eye-catching graphics.  Curved LEDs highlight the canopy, and an abstraction of the wave logo glows as the base of the monument sign.
