This project is the corporate headquarters office attached to the existing manufacturing plant for a family owned and operated farm implement design and fabrication business. It involved the design and integration of an 11,000 square foot office addition to the existing manufacturing facility as part of a three-phase business expansion plan. The Owner required the building design to embody the forward looking, future growth of the company while celebrating the more than 100 years of continuous family guidance and stewardship. Attention was paid to showcase specific design elements into the design: a salvaged beam crane as signage; Owner fabricated, decorative steel panels; and special display areas for current products.
Attention was paid to integrating energy and programmatic efficiency through daylighting, LED lighting, geothermal HVAC system, and a highly efficient thermal building envelope. Flexible workspaces, multipurpose rooms, and the cafeteria were designed to accommodate greater interaction between the office and manufacturing staff, which has resulted in a more cohesive business culture.
